Kiran Rao denies being Mrs Aamir Khan

kiran_rao_amir

When it comes to matching up the fashion trends Bollywood wives are never very far from it, be it Gauri Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Suzanne Roshan or Twinkle Khanna. However, there is one Bollywood wife that stands apart from everyone. Yes, it is the talented director Kiran Rao.

She definitely makes her own style statement when it comes to present oneself. This time the lady has done it once again. When asked in a rare interview that why she is not carrying her hubby’s last name
‘Khan’ after her name, the director very clearly said that she would like her name to be simple.

She said that though Kiran Rao Khan will sound very stylish, but it will not go with her simple personality. She said that she finds it very weird when she finds women giving up their name and taking up their hubby’s name after marriage. She added that Aamir is very understanding on that part and gives her the space to be who she is. She says that Aamir Khan shares the same point of view as hers.

Well Kiran!! Your originality and simplicity is what we like about you. Here’s a thump up for that idea!

The Dancing Queen Madhuri Dixit

Known as Madhuri Dixit in the Bollywood film industry, her full name is Madhuri Shankar Dixit. She is one of the famous Bollywood actresses who made her acting debut in the late 1980’s. Born in an orthodox Marathi Brahmin family, she was one of the Bollywood heart throbs, who wooed audiences not only through her acting skills but also with her dancing skills. She is very often refereed to as the “dancing queen of Bollywood” and people are simply mesmerized by her dancing style. Through her entire acting career, which started in late 1980’s and continued till the late 1990’s, she won many awards and recognitions for her dance as well as her acting abilities.

Even though she started her acting in the film Abodh, in 1984 which was her debut film, she gained popularity after she did Tezaab in 1988. Tezaab is one such film, where one can see Madhuri’s dancing potential, which has been utilized to the maximum in later films. After this film, she acted in a number of films, most notable of them are Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Parinda and a host of other films. In fact it is in the film Tezaab, where the famous dance sequence for the song “ek do teen” created ripples in the heart of the audiences. This song was choreographed by the famous choreographer Saroj Khan and the popularity of the song reached such a stage, that it became almost a national anthem which was being sung by every one.

She is not only known as an actor but also as famous dancer, because she is a trained Kathak dancer too. In Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, her dancing is worth noticing, which was appreciated by many. In fact whenever we think of Madhuri Dixit, the first thing which strikes the mind is her dance sequence in different films, which became pretty famous.

Some of the famous film songs where her dancing was very much appreciated and she became a dancing diva after doing those wonderful performances are “ek do teen” from the film Tezaab, “dhak dhak” from the film Beta, “didi tera devar dewana” from the film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and many such films. Her performance in Devdas, by famous director Sanjay Leela Bansali, in the year 2002 is also worth mentioning. In fact this film was also aired in Cannes Film Festival, where her performance was highly appreciated. It was again in 2007 where we saw the dancing diva’s return to her dancing as well as her acting career through the film “Aaja Nachle”.

After this film, even though Madhuri Dixit did not appear in any film, she did not dishearten her fans and audiences completely. She made a sudden appearance in one of the famous reality dance shows named Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which is being aired in Sony Entertainment Television. The dancing diva is the judge for the session four of this dance reality show, along with others. So her fans need not be disheartened, because she will not only be judging this dance reality show but will also show her dancing skills to the audience and to her fans, who eagerly waits to see her dancing gracefully as before.

Katrina Kaif’s Romantic Wish

katrina

She is considered one of the most beautiful women in Bollywood, but surprisingly no one has ever written any romantic poems for Katrina Kaif. So Kat's made it known that she wants a poem written for her, and she's even zeroed in on the man for the job.

"Nobody has ever written a poem for me. But if someone actually writes a poem for me, I think that will be very romantic," she said at the launch of Pritish Nandy's book of love poems 'Tonight, This Savage Rite'.

And it's not one of B'wood's hot hunks that Katrina has in mind to write her a poem. The 26-year-old surprised everyone when she said: "I want Gulzar saab to write poems for me."

Gulzar, 74, who has written many songs for Hindi films and has many poetry books to his credit, was present at the event and said: "Inshallah, I would write a poem for Katrina for sure."

And what did the star have to say about love itself? "Even though love is known to cause pain, disappointment, disillusionment, still I don't want to be pessimistic about love. I would rather want to have a positive approach to love. I believe that there can be a happy ending, because love is the most beautiful thing in the world."

But for all those romantic thoughts, when asked about Valentine's Day plans, Kat said, "I have no plans. I will be working on the day."

Tax free Priyanka, and Katrina

Bollywood divas Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif both made public appearances on Thursday, their first since the I-T raids on their residences on Monday. While Katrina was present at a Bandra bookstore for the launch of a novel by Pritish Nandy and Kamala Das, Priyanka attended an award show at the MMRDA grounds at Bandra Kurla Complex. Both actresses seemed to have found their stride and their voice, hitting out against the several unconfirmed reports doing the rounds about claims of spectacular seizures made by the I-T department.

Agency reports on Thursday indicated that an unaccounted Rs 6 crore had been found at Priyanka Chopra's residence. Reacting almost immediately, a spokesperson of the actress said, "We deny the many malicious rumours being spread in the media on the basis of some unidentified sources.

We are extending all cooperation to the Income Tax authorities in their ongoing investigations and are restraining ourselves from commenting any further on the issue pending completion of the investigative process."

A senior I-T official told Mumbai Mirror that while prima facie there were definitely some doubts about some documents which indicated that an amount close to Rs 6 crore could be unaccounted for, it was much too early to categorically declare it tax evasion.

"First of all, no unaccounted cash was seized from her residence. And if there are some purchases - or documents related to some purchases - which were detected and there is no immediate clarity about the source of funds for them, the matter will have to be investigated further.

Even Priyanka will be given a chance to prove bona fides. This is an ongoing process and we cannot jump to conclusions at this point," said the official.

Earlier in the day, a terse statement was issued by Katrina Kaif's chartered accountants. "A search was conducted by the Income Tax Dept at the residence of my client Ms Katrina Kaif. My client is disturbed by the speculative reports circulating in the media that she has disclosed unaccounted income running into crores and unaccounted lockers were found.

The fact of the matter is that no unaccounted income has been declared by her. Katrina is fully cooperating with the IT Dept, whom she holds in high regard," the statement said.

Berlin hosts Khan after Khan

Indian cinema fans in Europe are basking in the company of Khan after Khan and they can't believe their luck. First, it was Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan who spent three months in Berlin and now Aamir Khan arrives here early next month.

Aamir will be here as a member of the international jury of the 61st Berlinale that opens Feb 10.

"It's not that we are in the habit of collecting Khans. But we greatly admire the work of both Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan and are totally excited that Aamir will be with us this year," Dorothee Wenner, Berlinale's special representative for Indian cinema, said.

Wenner says the festival has admired Aamir as a producer and actor for many years and has been trying to get him to participate in the Berlinale for a long time.

"Of course, it is not enough to want Aamir in our midst. It is about schedules and whether he is free from work to be part of the Berlinale. The logistics were always a problem. Aamir's work schedule did not allow him to be part of the Berlinale earlier. We are very happy that he is with us this year," Wenner said.

Festival director Dieter Kosslick saw Aamir's Peepli Live at the last Berlinale and liked the film so much that Wenner was asked to work overtime to make sure that Aamir participated in the event this year.

"I think it is great that such a versatile filmmaker is on the Berlinale jury. He knows every aspect of filmmaking, from acting, to directing and, of course, producing. I hope he will stay in that last role in the coming years because it means we can look forward to more unusual and surprising Hindi films. Also, if you look at the way he promotes his projects, I would want him as a producer if I were to make a film," Gerlinde Seitner from the Austrian Film Institute said.

It is Wenner who first introduced Shah Rukh to audiences here and now she is very happy to host Aamir. Shah Rukh first participated in the Berlinale with Om Shanti Om in 2008.

Berliners still recall how Shah Rukh had stopped traffic in the German capital with his charming ways. He was again at the Berlinale in 2010 for the world premiere of his last film My Name Is Khan and spent the last three months of the last year filming for Farhan Akhtar's Don 2, which is partly shot in Berlin.

Berliners are thrilled that one Khan has barely left the city when Aamir will soon be with them.

The Bollywood participation at this year's Berlinale includes the world premiere of 7 Khoon Maaf. It has been selected for screening in the Panorama special section that picks cinema on the basis of innovative narrative styles and unusually critical images of society. Audiences will watch the film in the company of director Vishal Bharadwaj, producer Ronnie Srewvalla and leading lady Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka fans look forward to her return to Berlin after having feasted on her presence just a few months ago when she was in the city shooting for Don 2.

Another Indian film is Gandu by Kaushik Mukherjee and Om Puri's West is West will also be screened.

Award winning Shekhar Kapur will bring no film to the festival but he will join a panel for discussions with production designer Alex Mcdowell and others on "Play as Process: World building and New Ways to Imagine".

Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals and the international jury led this year by Italian actress Isabella Rossellini is the last word on which lucky film director gets to take home the Golden and Silver Bears at the end of the 11-day gala which concludes Feb 20.

The other members on the international jury along with Aamir are producer Jan Chapman, actress Nina Hoss, director Guy Maddin, costume designer Sandy Powell and Iranian director Jafar Panahi.
